I know I’m not alone in saying that we live in an instant gratification society. There is such a high demand for little to no downtime in all aspects, especially cosmetic treatments! Who isn’t looking for results that have us looking youthful and our best?! Lately, I’ve been hearing more questions from clients regarding injectables such as “is filler the same as Botox?” In short, the answer is no. But they do have some similarities!
What does Botox and filler have in common?
- Both are minimally invasive! These are done right in the office so that the patient has no downtime.
- If someone is looking to get a surgical procedure but has not fully committed, Botox and fillers are awesome alternatives!
- The results are extremely natural looking! Botox might take up to 2 weeks before the effects set in. With filler, the results can be instant, however bruising/swelling may occur.
What are the differences between the two?
The products listed above are neurotoxins. Their main goal is to smooth fine lines and wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing the muscles that are responsible for creating expression lines. These are known as dynamic wrinkles. Neurotoxins are not the best correction for static wrinkles that are visible even at rest! Ain’t nobody got time for wrinkles!
Here at Touch MedSpa, we carry Allergan (Volbella, Juvederm, Vollure, Voluma) and Galderma products (Restylane Lyft, Restylane Refyne/Defyne, Restylane Kysse) for our cosmetic fillers. Fillers can be used to lift cheeks, eliminate under eye bags, dark circles, erase smile lines, enhance the lips, and soften nasolabial folds. They best correct wrinkles seen at rest! With age, we all lose collagen, fat, elastin, and hyaluronic acid in our skin which leads to volume loss. We can combat this and replace the volume with filler!
How do I know which is best for me?
That is an excellent question! Since everyone is different, it is hard to advise without seeing someone face to face! That is why we offer complimentary consultations with our nurses! They can listen to your main concerns and see which filler or neurotoxin will be the best for you and your skin.
