Do you happen to have a tattoo that you no longer want on your body? I bet you thought you were stuck with it for life, right? Well, I’m here to tell you that tattoo removal IS possible with lasers! Shocking, I know!! Keep following along to learn more.
Wait, are you Telling me that Tattoo Removal Actually Works?
In short, the answer is yes! The ink is broken into tiny particles from our Quanta Discovery laser without breaking the skin so the body can safely absorb the ink. This method has proven very effective in removing both newer and older tattoos!
What Determines the Number of Treatments Needed?
There are many factors that play a role in the number of treatments needed to remove a tattoo. These include color, tattoo size, location, depth of the ink, and the age of the tattoo. It is a rarity for any tattoo to be completely removed in just one session.
Can you Remove a Tattoo Completely?
Absolutely! Here at Touch MedSpa, we use a picosecond laser that works at a variety of wavelengths to break up the different colors of the tattoo ink into tiny particles that are then safely removed out of your body through the lymphatic system. Not only is this safe and effective, we can completely remove tattoos! Lasers are the only method that can rid you of your tattoo completely!
Why are Tattoos So Difficult to Remove?
Every person is different! So, everyone’s skin tone and texture may vary. As we all know, tattoos are thought to be a permanent addition to the body. Ink is inserted deep into the dermis and the ink particles need to be large enough to not be flushed out from the body’s lymphatic system. The colors of the ink may complicate this process. Certain ink colors respond differently to various wavelengths of lasers!
How Many Sessions Will I Need and Where do I Start?
As I mentioned earlier, the number of sessions depends on the size, color, and location of your tattoo! Usually 6-10 sessions spaced 4-8 weeks apart is the average number of sessions needed to fully remove a tattoo. The first step in our process would be to come in for a consultation (these are FREE!), to meet with one of our laser technicians. She’ll be able to look over your tattoo for the color, age, location, and size and give you an estimate on how many sessions, as well as cost!
Are Older Tattoos Harder to Remove?
Not necessarily! The older the tattoo, the more it has faded. This means that more ink has been absorbed by the body, making those particles weaker over time! Isn’t science amazing?! An older tattoo could only take a few sessions to remove, while a new tattoo could take double the amount of treatments!
When Will I See Results from a Treatment?
Immediately after your tattoo removal session, the skin on and around your tattoo will likely be red and swollen. It may also develop blisters as it heals, which is completely normal! Hypo or hyperpigmentation is also a possibility. This should fade with time and you should see a lighter tattoo after your first treatment! This should continue with each treatment until the tattoo is gone!
