If you are in the market for CoolSculpting and trying to find out some options about stubborn fat let’s first take a moment to reflect. If you are anything like me you can look back at a moment in time where calories didn’t matter quite so much, confidence may have been just slightly higher (especially if children have now taken over your body and life) and time was not an issue or energy for that matter. Ok, guys you may not be able to relate to ALL of that but, I know you can to some of the above!
When I was younger and very self-motivated I could not quite understand why people needed help with weight or body image. That was a time when my batteries stayed charged and I could eat 4,000 calories a day without even hesitating. Now, I’ve moved to a caffeine obsessed and calorie counting lifestyle and I still can’t seem to get rid of my problem areas. Oh, did I mention I work out 4-6 days a week. Does this sound familiar?
So, WHY CoolSculpting? WHY body contouring? If there is anything that I have learned in parenthood about self-care it’s that it’s okay, I’m worth it and confidence goes a very long way. It helps me feel better when I am with my husband, feeling good gives my extra motivation to STAY that way and the extra pep in my step is free!
There are lots of questions out there about why it’s “COOL” so let me elaborate here:
CoolSculpting FACTS:
- How does Coolsculpting work?
Coolsculpting is FDA approved technology that freezes up to 24% of your fat cells in the area being treated. Ok, great! So, what does that mean? When you go in for your consultation you will let the technician know where your problem area(s) are. She will squeeze around a little bit. Yes, this will temporarily hurt your feelings just a little. But, all for good cause of course! She will determine how to sculpt that area and how many “cycles” you need to get your desired result. Now it’s time for treatment (yay)! She will mark those areas being treated making sure the applicator goes in the best spot possible to give the best result possible. The applicator will use suction to pull the fat into the applicator and bring that area to a freezing temperature. That temperature kills the fat cells in that area (24% of them) and over a period of 12 weeks those fat cells leave through your lymphatic system. Cool, right?!
- How long does it take?
It really just depends on the area being treated. On average it takes 35 minutes (per cycle) but you can plan on being at your appointment for a full 45 minutes. It includes before pictures and getting the applicator on correctly. All are crucial to your optimal result.
- What kind of results can I get?
This is a big question and a very important one! As we have been saying the technology is designed to remove 24% of fat cells. So, based on size results can vary. Some people may need to be treated twice in an area to get what they are looking for. In our office we see a lot of people start talking about 4 or 5 parts of the body. Do we want to treat all parts of your body? SURE! Do we recommend starting that way? Honestly, NO! Treat your top one or two areas properly with the recommended cycles. Then when you LOVE it, come back and do the rest. Don’t overwhelm yourself or your wallet. Don’t cut yourself short to try to afford it all. Remember, you still want to live a healthy lifestyle. This is not your one way pass to eating and drinking everything under the sun. NOTHING is permanent when it comes to body contouring or weight management. Take care of yourself and the results will last a very long time!
- Does it hurt?
I have treated my inner thighs and banana roll (the roll under your butt cheek). I had no pain during the procedure. The first 7 minutes were uncomfortable as in a level 4 of discomfort out of scale of 10 but, no pain. The only strange feeling I would say is when the applicator comes off and the tissue is cold. Again, no pain, just an odd feeling. Some people experience soreness afterward and swelling in the area treated.
- What areas can be treated?
Coolsculpting targets all problem areas! Stomach, flanks, bra fat, fat under the chin, arms, outer thigh, inner thigh, banana roll, knee fat. The saying goes…if you can squeeze it, we can freeze it!
