According to the Mayo Clinic, you may not be eligible for laser resurfacing if you:

• Have taken the acne medication isotretinoin (Claravis, Myorisan, Zenatane) over the previous year
• Have an autoimmune disease or a weak immune system
• Have a tendency to form scars
• Have had radiation therapy to the face
• Are prone to cold sores or have had a recent outbreak of cold sores or herpes virus
• Have a darker skin tone
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding

Your Touch MedSpa provider will review detailed post-care instructions with you both before and again after your laser resurfacing treatment. You should expect some redness and swelling for a few days, although you shouldn’t need to account for any significant downtime. It will be especially important during the healing process to stick religiously to your SPF and to avoid any situations that could lead to infection, such as swimming or hot tubs.
